B-A-Z, the ONLY right choice

Municipal elections ... Every 6 years you, as a resident of our municipality, can cast your vote. You have informed us en masse from all corners of the municipality that things really cannot continue like this!

You pointed out to us that the safety problems and the associated uneasiness frighten you, that you are tired of constantly being stuck in traffic jams, that household waste and the container park cost you far too much, that everything is gradually being built up, that we miss green open spaces, that our community is gradually deteriorating, and ESPECIALLY that you feel that the decision makers are not listening to your grievances and concerns!

Now it's your turn. This is THE time to demonstrate en masse that you want a lot to change in the short term. ALL the candidates on our list share the same concerns and are sticking their necks out to get much-needed change moving.

With your support, we will do what we can to make a decisive change. Use your vote “RIGHT” and GO VOTE.
Not voting? = Don't “complain” afterwards! We count on your common sense!

They are all looking at you again, all over the street, smiling – almost laughing – at all the candidates from the various other parties for the elections of October 13.

We had already proposed to the city council to hold a poster-free campaign, because ultimately this only mars the street scene with useless and meaningless messages. It is more like a beauty contest instead of a choice for the future of your municipality, but the other parties have chosen not to respond to this. Oh yes, every animal has its own pleasure...

“Citizens from Asbeek to Zellik”, B-A-Z for short, is a new – and the ONLY real – citizens' movement, which is aimed at all citizens of our municipality. B-A-Z has no ties to any national political party and consists of citizens with diverse ideological beliefs. They have set themselves the common goal of "developing a municipal policy where all citizens feel at home and valued" after the elections of October 13, 2024. From A to Z (everything and everyone included) is the guideline and geographically includes the sub-municipalities and hamlets of Asbeek, Asse, Asse-ter-Heide, Bekkerzeel, Kobbegem, Koudertaveerne, Krokegem, Mollem, Relegem, Ten Berg, Walfergem and Zellik .

Safety
Insecurity and crime have spread to all corners of our municipality. Only with a tit-for-tat policy and zero tolerance can we tackle this problem at its root before we lose complete control.
Photo: Police must be clearly visible in the street scene and act without mercy

Mobility
Everyone inside (and outside) our municipality knows the current situation, and it is catastrophic. When drawing up a new mobility plan, information must be drawn from a broad source of stakeholders: from (neighborhood) associations to traders and schools to experts. All bottlenecks must be identified and a new mobility plan must be drawn up that addresses all problems. Mobility must – in other words – be reconsidered from ZERO, as well as the sense or nonsense of paid parking.
Photo: We stand still more than we drive, to the frustration of all road users, which regularly results in dangerous situations.

Economical policy
At the end of 2024, the municipality's debt will increase from 47.7 million euros (end of 2023) to no less than 71.5 million euros! (End of 2025: almost 75 million euros, source: official multi-year planning). This debt must be drastically reduced if we do not want to mortgage future generations and saddle them with an impossible financial situation in which almost nothing is possible anymore.

Presentation Candidates

1. BEUNCKENS Erik
List leader

Over the past 6 years, I have had many items placed on the agenda of the municipal council, usually introduced by you - as a citizen. These points always had the higher goal of improving our general well-being as residents of the municipality.
It concerned, among other things, safety, education, streets & sidewalks, household waste, mobility & the Ring DOOR Asse, animal welfare, the Hopmarkt of Asse, safety for pedestrians, real estate projects, fair and transparent administration, etc.
These points had varying degrees of success, but we often did not achieve much or even nothing at all because the current administration prefers to do its own thing from its ivory tower rather than listen to reason and the justified questions and aspirations of our citizens.
A lot needs to change, but that will only be possible if we can help govern the municipality for the next 6 years. With your help this is possible and I will make every effort to make your municipality a place where it is pleasant to live, work and relax.
I will be retiring at the end of this year and will therefore have more time than ever to do so.
The choice is yours!

19. DE KNOP Chris
List pusher

Dear fellow citizens, during the previous elections you gave me the confidence to defend the interests of citizens in our municipal council. Anyone who has followed municipal politics at all over the past 5 years knows that I have done so with a lot of drive and determination. From the opposition we have been able to make a difference in many dossiers, and this is very important: always remaining 100% faithful to our principle as a citizen's party: the general interest always comes first!
But there is still a lot of work to be done to make Asse a beautiful, flourishing and liveable municipality again, and in the coming years, with your approval, I want to continue to be the (critical) voice of all citizens in our government.
If we want to break with the traditional 'knows us' politics and place the well-being of the citizens ahead of party interests, we want a government that is not exclusively right, left, blue, red or green, but focuses on what matters to Asse and all its sub-municipalities is best, then B-A-Z as the only real citizens' list is also the only real solution for Asse!
On October 13, take your fate into your own hands, vote B-A-Z, and you can count on my efforts again in the coming years.
B-A-Z, The Citizens from Asbeek to Zellik, the ONLY right choice

Respect for the citizen
It is the citizens who put together the operating resources of the municipality. Citizens must therefore be much more actively and directly involved in day-to-day management and the spending of “their” money. Citizens must be consulted for major projects.

Taxes
Taxes have risen sharply in recent years. Due to the various megalomaniac projects, there will be almost no room to reduce this in the first few years. But they must certainly not increase and must eventually drop back to an acceptable (livable) level.
Photo: As soon as possible, taxes should gradually decrease. But don't be under any illusions: this is impossible in the first few years due to the accumulated debt.

Communication
It has been a sore point within our community for years. Citizens who require information or ask the administration a question must receive an adequate answer within a reasonable period of time.

Animal welfare
Our municipality has a poor reputation when it comes to animal welfare. There is still a lot of work to be done here.

Bicycle-safe municipality
Where necessary, the infrastructure should be further improved. But a bicycle-safe municipality is only possible if all participants in traffic (car, transport, pedestrians and cyclists) strictly adhere to the traffic rules.

Our program obviously includes much more than the few priorities listed: We also have a clear opinion on, among others, Economy, Good Governance, Aid to the least advantaged, Youth Policy & Education, Cronyism, Elderly Care, Sports & Housing.

Shuttle transport to/from polling stations
Due to an incomprehensible and inexcusable error, many citizens have to vote outside their familiar village center. Together with our candidates, we provide a shuttle service between 9 am and 3 pm so that you can still vote. Reservations are mandatory and can be made no later than Wednesday, October 9, 8 p.m. (unless fully booked earlier), preferably by email (shuttle@b-a-z.be) or by telephone ONLY between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on number 0468 25 92 30. We will inform you on Friday, October 11 the right hour. We need the following information: Your name & address, which polling station, how many people and your telephone number. Without all this information we would otherwise not be able to draw up a proper plan. We also have 2 healthcare professionals & 1 elderly care volunteer available for the less mobile. Volunteer drivers are welcome to report at any time. shuttle@b-a-z.be

What's the best way to vote?
In our municipality, voting is done electronically using voting computers. Voting takes place first for the municipal council and then for the provincial council. If you wish, you can practice in advance on a voting computer in the town hall.
From 2024 there will be some important changes. A “head vote” no longer has any influence on the individual candidates on the list. We therefore call on you to vote ONLY for one or more candidates from our list and NOT “on the head”.
